Govt offers two DA instalments to employees and pensioners; unions divided
Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju met employees’ unions at the Secretariat on Wednesday and offered to clear two of the six pending dearness allowance (DA) instalments - one during Dasara and one during Ugadi. The payment will be taken up at an upcoming Cabinet meeting.
On the Pay Revision Commission (PRC), the government said the report is expected in one to two months, after which a political decision will follow. For the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), it proposed a committee of employees and officials to study its abolition, without a timeline. On pending bills, it said it can clear about Rs 1,000 crore a month; the unions had asked for Rs 2,000 crore.
The unions came away divided. TGEJAC chairman Maram Jagadishwar said the talks failed to produce concrete, time-bound decisions on their four main demands, and called an emergency meeting on Thursday to decide the next step. Another JAC, led by chairman V Lachi Reddy, said the Chief Secretary had responded positively and urged the government to give employees’ issues priority.
