ఫోట్నా కప్‌లో హైదరాబాద్ సెయిలర్ అనికైత్‌కు ఓపెన్ స్కిఫ్ అండర్-17 టైటిల్
అర్జున అవార్డు గ్రహీత సి.ఎస్. ప్రదీపక్ మనవడు, సికింద్రాబాద్ సెయిలింగ్ క్లబ్‌కు చెందిన అనికైత్ చెన్నైలో రెండు పాయింట్ల తేడాతో గెలిచాడు.
చెన్నై: చెన్నైలోని రాయల్ మద్రాస్ యాట్ క్లబ్‌లో జరిగిన ఫోట్నా కప్ 2026లో సికింద్రాబాద్ సెయిలింగ్ క్లబ్‌కు చెందిన హైదరాబాద్ యువకుడు అనికైత్ ఓపెన్ స్కిఫ్ అండర్-17 టైటిల్ గెలుచుకున్నాడు.
కీస్టోన్ అకాడమీ విద్యార్థి అయిన అనికైత్ తొలి రోజు మూడు రేసులనూ గెలిచాడు. రెండో రోజు తెరచాప దెబ్బతినడంతో మొదటి రేసు నుంచి వైదొలగాల్సి వచ్చినా, మిగిలిన రేసుల్లో గెలిచి రెండు పాయింట్ల తేడాతో టైటిల్ సొంతం చేసుకున్నాడు.
అనికైత్ అర్జున అవార్డు గ్రహీత, ఆసియా క్రీడలు, కామన్వెల్త్ క్రీడల పతక విజేత సి.ఎస్. ప్రదీపక్ మనవడు. అతని తల్లి మేఘన ప్రదీపక్ రెండుసార్లు జాతీయ ఛాంపియన్, ఆసియా-పసిఫిక్ కాంస్య పతక విజేత; మేనమామ అర్జున్ ప్రదీపక్ సికింద్రాబాద్ సెయిలింగ్ క్లబ్ కమోడోర్. Hyderabad sailor Anikait wins Open Skiff Under-17 title at Fotna Cup
Chennai: Hyderabad teenager Anikait of the Secunderabad Sailing Club won the Open Skiff Under-17 title at the Fotna Cup 2026, held at the Royal Madras Yacht Club in Chennai.
Anikait, a student of Keystone Academy, won all three races on the first day. On the second day his sail was damaged and he had to retire from the first race, but he came back to win the remaining races and took the title by two points.
He is the grandson of C S Pradipak, an Arjuna awardee and Asian Games and Commonwealth Games medallist. His mother Meghana Pradipak is a two-time national champion and Asia-Pacific bronze medallist, and his uncle Arjun Pradipak is Commodore of the Secunderabad Sailing Club. "Anikait represents the third generation of sailors in his family," his mother said.
